In April 2006 Barn Owl Cottage was awarded "Walkers Welcome"
and "Cyclists Welcome" by Quality in Tourism which means we
provide a range of services tailored to walkers and cyclists. We provide
a lockable shed with a first aid kit, bicycle repair tools and a place
to dry your clothes and equipment. We no longer subscribe to this service
but we still provide the same great service to walkers and cyclists alike.
 The
Lincolnshire Wolds have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty. Here you'll find country roads with little traffic but the occasional
tractor and cycle paths and footpaths that invite you to explore. The
Bluestone Heath Road runs south-eastwards across the Wolds offers stunning
views of the valleys below. Not far from there is Redhill Nature Reserve
which is home to many species of wildlife and rare wildflowers. Another
great place to visit is Snipe Dales Country Park and Nature Reserve on
the southern edge of the Wolds.
 On
your bookcase you will find a number of maps and leaflets on local walks
and cycle routes. The "Two Churches and a Canal Walk" goes right
passed Barn Owl Cottage. The National Cycle Route 1 runs through the Wolds
if you'd like to explore the area on two wheels. You can download some
useful leaflets from the
Lincolnshire Wold website or pick them up from Louth Tourist
Information.
