You
don't have to go far to find interesting places to visit. A short walk
across the fields takes you to Alvingham where you can find the a churchyard
which is special for two reasons: It's one of just a handful where two
Anglican churches are right next to each other:St.Mary's and St. Adelwold's,
which is the only church named after a saxon saint! Not far from the churches
is Alvingham Mill, a traditional watermill.
In the same village you can also find Alvingham Fisheries where you can
enjoy a day's coarse fishing.
A short drive away on the Louth
Road is Rushmoor
Country Park. It's a great day out for all the family with plenty
to do for everybody. There's a lovely tearoom where you can enjoy the
tastes of Lincolnshire, a herbgarden, wildlife pond and a large collection
of rare breed poultry. A play area and plenty of bunnys and guinea pigs
to cuddle will keep the little ones entertained.
If you would like to learn a
new skill, try climbing at NXG
Outdoor Pursuit's very own climbing wall. They also offer qualified
instruction in a variety of other activities and personal training.
Just 5
minutes away in Manby, you can take part in a range of exhilarating experiences
at Manby Motorplex. You can
take your 4x4 off-road, try the skid-car or drive a HGV. There are different
events all year round and entrance as a spectator is usually free!
Less than 5 miles away is Covenham
Reservoir. The local sailing club offers lots of courses including
windsurfing, kayaking, canoing and advanced sailing courses. The New
Plough in Covenham has just won the "Tastes of Lincolnshire -
Pub of the Year 2006 Award". It's just one of many great places to
enjoy a tasty meal prepared with local produce.
In the winter the place to visit
is Donna Nook. Grey seals come to this beach in November and December
every year to pup. It's amazing to see these shy animals give birth and
care for their pups just yards away from the visitors.
The Fun Coast with Mablethorpe's
blue flag beaches is just 13 miles away. Mablethorpe is an traditional
sea side resort with donkey rides on the beach, arcades, a fairground
and "kiss-me-quick" hats! If you want to enjoy a quieter beach
head for the NorthEnd Beach. In the winter there is motorbike sandracing
on the beach which is great fun to watch - wrap up warm! Skegness, Cleethorpes
and Sutton-on-Sea's beaches are all easily reached by car.
Lincolnshire's Poacher Country is also known as "Bomber Country"
due to it's aviation heritage. You can visit the Lincolnshire Aviation
Heritage Centre near Spilsby where you can see "Just Jane" a
Lancaster bomber which will perform
taxi runs on some days and one of the Dambuster's original bouncing bombs
as well as a control tower, air raid shelter and military vehicles. It's
well worth a visit. So is the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor

the hangar and see a Lancaster bomber, five Spitfires, two Hurricanes
and a Dakota.
