Lincolnshire's Poacher Country
Lincolnshire's
Poacher Country lies in the east of England, south of the Humber and encompasses
much of the Lincolnshire Wolds and the East Coast.
The Wolds rise above the farmland with rolling hills, quiet streams and woods.
They are well known for their beautiful skies, as well as peace and quiet. No
wonder it's been designated an Area of Ourstanding Natural Beauty.
There's lots to do here: If you enjoy horse racing then Market Rasen is the place to visit. The racecourse hold 19 National Hunt meetings with family fun days and themed days.
Or if you like to play golf, in Woodhall Spa you can find Lincolnshire's only championship course.
Visit Cadwell Park racing circuits to watch one of the many races including the British Superbikes in August. Or why not book a track day and feel the thrill of the "Mountain" and the "Gooseneck" first hand.
There are plenty of chances to snap up a bargain in the many antiques shops in the area. Louth, Horncastle and Alford are all good places for a bargain hunt!
The village
of Somersby is the birthplace of poet laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson who described
the place he loved:
Calm and peace on this high wold, and on these dews that drench the furze
He lived in Westgate Place, Louth with his grandmother and attended King Edward VI Grammar School.
